ABOUT
| Shannon was born in Chicopee, MA, but was raised in Homestead, Florida, a small agricultural town just north of the Florida Keys. Shannon's early love of photography was influenced by old copies of LIFE magazines his parents kept around the house from the 1960s. This interest informs his work which explores documentary not for social change, but for personal discovery. Shannon is an instructor in the MFA program at the Academy of Art University where he has authored classes in color, light, composition, porrtraiture, digital imaging and the history of photography. He lives in Northern Virginia with his wife Amy and daughters Caroline and Emma.
